These songs have been with me for a long time.
I am so happy to finally share them with you, and to share the joy of bringing them to life. They are about the deep connection to the world I experience through music, and the courage that it takes us to pursue our dreams and live in the present.
I am also thrilled and grateful that I got to do this with such a creative and artistic ensemble:
Brian Friedland has made hundreds of compositions for every ensemble imaginable, some commissioned by Longy school of music and American Composer’s Orchestra. Parts of my songwriting had his playing in mind and my work blossomed more beautifully in his hands than I ever could have imagined.
I first came across Bruno Raberg as a pivotal teacher many years ago in college. He has released 12 albums as an artist and band leader, is featured on many more as a sideman, and is an internationally renowned bassist who has performed with world-class artists.
Drummer Austin McMahon is adaptable, subtle and swinging. He is also a composer and winner of the 9th annual Independent Music Awards for Best Jazz Song and Nominee for Best Jazz Album in the 11th annual IMA’s.
In addition to the trio I had the fortune and great pleasure to invite Phil Grenadier on flugelhorn, Andy Voelker and Brad Walker on tenor sax, and Gio Albanese on accordion, all bringing their professionalism, immense talent and passion to the project.
The recordings were made in two sessions during 2024 at PBS Studios in Westwood, MA, by Peter Kontrimas. Additional recordings were made at Oslo South Studios in New Orleans by Brian Seeger. The editing and mixing was done by Brian Seeger as well, whose unwavering support and set of carefully tuned skills were absolutely indispensable. The mastering was done by Graemme Brown in Vancouver, BC.
Steve Langone Quartet performs contemporary original jazz. Drummer and writer Langone has five albums released in his own name and appears on dozens of albums as a sideman. He has performed regularly for over 30 years in the US, Europe, Asia and South America, with artists including Anat Cohen, Herb Pomeroy, Luciana Souza and the Boston Pops.
